While the Sunflower Movement was ongoing in Taiwan, I kept a close eye on the news and social media. I felt so proud of these students speaking up for that they believed in and for speaking up for the future of Taiwan.
As I sat at home in the suburbs of NJ, I wanted to find a way to show my support for the Sunflower Movement, to somehow help and spread awareness about what was going on in Taiwan. What could I do? …
I decided to paint sunflowers onto my nails.
A friend and I have a joint Instagram where we share our nail art designs every week. With 3000+ followers from all different backgrounds, I thought it would be the perfect way for me to reach out to anyone that passed through our Instagram about what was going on in Taiwan at the time and about the Sunflower Movement.
Ways to show support, or to educate and advocate, can be done in more ways than one.
With that being said, I encourage each and everyone of you to think outside the box to do something – anything – to show your support, whether it be for Taiwan, or for anything else that you are passionate about! Everyone has his or her own strengths and interests, but it is up to the individual person to make a choice on whether or not he or she wants to something greater with it, one little step at a time.
